You can delete all partitions and repartition the drive, or you can choose to keep partitions as is and only format the C:\ drive. At boot, use fn + F7 to get to the boot menu and choose the entry for the USB stick. You can insert the USB and boot off of that to enter the Windows installer. If you choose to not save any data from your device, you’re all good. (You will still have to install drivers manually from the device manager, though.) As I mentioned before, chances are you’ll do just fine without, but better safe than sorry, eh? That way you can easily get to drivers if needed. I recommend using this guide: Make sure you place the drivers on the same USB you install Windows from. Optional: You can also export the current drivers in use on the device and save them to you install USB. If so, now is the time to move it off the drive if you plan on a full format of the internal drive. However there’s the possibility you will want to save the extra stuff GPD has included on the device. The newer Win 11 has integrated support for the WiFi chipset in the Win 4 so all remaining steps can be done directly on the device. What you need is the Installation media:Īfter that is sorted we can actually do the reinstall and then finish from the installed OS. This is well documented all over, so I’ll just link the page at MS here. If you make this medium on a different PC than the device it self, make sure you choose Windows 11 Home edition. I highly recommend using an external monitor / keyboard / mouse for this, but it is pretty manageable on the internal setup as well.įirst of all: Download Windows 11 and make an USB install medium. (Yes I did do a couple of boo-boos, and here’s how to avoid them.) So set out to do a fresh Windows install when I got my Win 4, here are lessons learned as a detailed step by step. Preface I reckon most users on here are quite capable of getting this done themselves without any guide, but after my run in with the touch screen driver making my attempt fail the first time around, I made this to help any novices.
